Fast forward to 1492 when our beloved Christopher Columbus & fellow pilgrims made their grand discovery (aka rape & pillage) of America. Our land was built upon the foundation of "What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine, too."
Slavery then resurfaced in America in 1619... because it was much easier to force our dirty work upon a peaceful people. Of course, respect for human life of a different race was completely out of the question.
Then we had Hitler in 1939, who really dug one in, setting the bar for violent intolerance.
Are we really JUST NOW noticing that evil, greed, hatred, and violence has our world in a relentless chokehold? Open your eyes. It's nothing new to hear that people are committing heinous crimes, shooting up elementary schools and movie theatres. War, greed & intolerance have been glorified and perpetuated through media, political leadership, government rule, and the facade of peace in excessive religion.
The truth lies within the patterns of our history. Fear runs this world.
It's time to stop sitting around biting our nails & start standing our ground. Something has to change. I hate to say it, but peace will never conquer hatred. Peace is something that's gotta grow from a seed into a forest, eventually usurping all evil. Acceptance is taught, and it will ultimately come once spirituality exists without religion. This will never happen if each & every one of us don't learn it, live it, teach it, and spread it. We certainly won't see it in our lifetime, but we can work towards it for our future generations.
What lies ahead seems grim, doesn't it? And our chances... slim. But if we all come together, we can make it out alive.

"Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Disturbed people see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody." -- Morgan Freeman
